AI Polish and Translate
Rewrite or translate the selected text with one shortcut.
Two shortcuts send the text you select to AI and paste the answer over it. They work in any app where you can select and paste text, with any plan once you are signed in.
AI Polish, ⌥1
Select text and press ⌥1 (Alt+1 on Windows). Spelling, grammar and punctuation are fixed. Four switches on the Pro tab in Settings add to that:
- Make more concise (on) — drops filler and repetition.
- Reword for clarity (on) — rephrases awkward sentences.
- Reorder for readability (off) — moves sentences into a clearer order.
- Add structure for readability (off) — short paragraphs and lists.
For example, this app fix typos and and make text more clear becomes This app fixes typos and makes text clearer.
AI Translate, ⌥2
Select text, hold ⌥ and press 2. Each press picks the next layout of your group and shows it on the plate. Let go of ⌥ and the selection is translated into the language of that layout. With nothing selected, it only switches the layout.
How much
One request takes up to 4,000 characters. Polish and Translate share one monthly allowance: 100 requests with a free account, 400 with Pro, and about 6,000 paragraphs with Pro+. See pricing.
Where the text goes
Only the selected text, only when you press the shortcut. It goes to the Langouste service and on to Claude by Anthropic for that one request, and is not stored or logged. Everything else Langouste does stays on your device.
When nothing is pasted
The plate says why: nothing selected, not signed in, the month’s allowance used up, more than 4,000 characters, or the service unreachable. A key, a click or another window while it waits cancels the request, and the answer is only pasted into the window you started in.
