Langouste

Terms of use

Updated 1 Nov 2026

These terms are between you and the owner of the Langouste service («we») and cover the Langouste app, the langouste.app website and your Langouste account. By signing in or using the app you agree to them. If you use Langouste for an organisation, you confirm you may agree to these terms on its behalf.

What Langouste is

Langouste is an app for macOS that switches the keyboard layout you ask for: you give every shortcut its own short list of layouts. The app works on your Mac and, in its free version, needs no account. An account is needed for the Pro plan.

Your account

  • You sign in with a Google, Apple or Facebook account, or with a link sent to your e-mail when that is offered; Langouste has no password of its own.
  • You are responsible for what happens in your account and on the devices you connect to it. If you lose a device, remove it in your account.
  • Langouste is not meant for children under 16.

Plans

  • Free. Cycle groups, recorded shortcuts, double-tap and modifier-only triggers, the fix for text typed in the wrong layout, the switcher plate and the Active switch. One device.
  • Pro — a yearly subscription. It adds switching mid-word, settings sync between devices and English in password fields. Up to five devices.

The Pro licence is checked online; after each check the app works offline for up to 7 days. We may change what each plan includes for future purchases and renewals; what you have already paid for stays as sold until the end of the paid period.

Licence

We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Langouste according to your plan. You may not resell the app, bypass the licence check or plan limits, take the app apart to reproduce it, or use the service in ways that harm others or break the law.

Your data

Your layouts, groups and shortcuts are yours. We acquire no rights to them. Langouste reads nothing you type; it only matches the shortcuts you recorded.

Payment

Langouste Pro is sold by Paddle, our reseller and Merchant of Record. Paddle takes payment, charges taxes, sends invoices and handles refunds; Paddle's buyer terms also apply to your purchase.

  • The price is shown on the pricing page. Taxes are charged according to your country.
  • The subscription renews automatically at the start of each year until you cancel it. You can cancel any time; Pro stays active until the end of the paid period.
  • If a payment fails, Paddle tries again; without payment the subscription ends and the account moves to the Free plan.
  • Refunds follow the Refund policy.

Availability and liability

We keep working on Langouste, but provide it «as is», without a guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Switching layouts depends on macOS; a macOS update may change how it behaves.

To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to the amount you paid for Langouste in the last 12 months. We are not liable for indirect damages, lost profit or lost data. These limits do not remove consumer rights that the law of your country does not allow to be limited.

Ending

You can stop using Langouste at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or close an account used in breach of these terms, with notice where possible.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The new version will appear on this page with its date; we will tell you about significant changes by e-mail in advance. If you keep using Langouste after the changes take effect, you accept them.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of Ukraine. We try to settle any dispute by talking first — write to us. If you are a consumer in another country, you keep the rights your country's law gives you.
