Shortcuts at a glance
Every key Langouste reacts to, the most used first.
Every key and shortcut Langouste reacts to, the most used first. All of it is free unless it says Pro.
Switching layouts
- A group's shortcut switches to the next layout of that group. Each group has its own, set in Settings: press its field, then ⌘, ⌥ or ⌃ with Space, an F-key or an arrow. Letters, digits and signs are refused because they are typing. Two groups never share a shortcut, and neither does a group with a text hotkey. More.
- Fn on its own does the same for the group set to it. Press and release it quickly with nothing else pressed; held with another key or modifier it is not a tap. Only one group can use it. To set it, record the group's shortcut and tap Fn. A new setup starts with one group on Fn holding every layout of your Mac.
- A word in progress follows the switch (Pro). If you switch layout in the middle of a word, the word on screen is retyped in the new layout:
ckjdjbecomesсловоwithout waiting for a space. With three or more layouts in the group and the plate on, it waits until the plate is gone or you press the next key.
Fixing text
- Backspace right after an automatic fix takes the fix back and learns nothing:
wfhbecameцар, Backspace giveswfhagain. - Shift+Backspace right after a fix takes it back and adds the word to the exceptions, so
wfhstayswfh. Fixes made at Return or Tab cannot be taken back this way. More. - ⌃⌥Z converts the layout of the selection or the last word:
ckjdjbecomesслово, and pressing it again returnsckjdj. Pressed right after an automatic fix, it takes the fix back and adds the word to the exceptions. - Shift, tapped twice converts the selected text the same way. It has its own switch.
- ⌃⌥U changes the case:
hello worldbecomesHello World, thenHELLO WORLD. - ⌃⌥T transliterates:
КиївbecomesKyiv.
These are the default keys of the text hotkeys. Record others in Settings with ⌘, ⌥ or ⌃; a chord a group already uses is refused. More.
While recording a shortcut
- Escape cancels the recording.
- Backspace or Forward Delete clears the shortcut.
Rarely needed
- With the menu bar menu open, ⌘, opens Settings and ⌘Q quits Langouste. The Active item has no key.
- In Settings, Escape or ⌘W closes the window. Escape does not while you are recording a shortcut or a menu or a list window is open.
Keys other than these are not touched. Which of the features need Pro is on the plans page.
